“Calliope leaned forward on the vanity which was littered with gleaming silvery beauty wands, powder and a fresh mani color mitt, all of it arrayed carefully before her like weapons polished and laid out for battle. Her own artificial tools, which had always made her so dangerously beautiful for the world.” AND ” A face covered with a proper piece of ministry, just revealing the beauty of her eyes without the manipulation of any gleaming or sparkling substance with just a part of the cloth over her head, she obtained freedom, confidence and looked more charming and level-headed lady.”

AAGGHH…

Honourable head, respected teachers and my dear fellow students,

Assalam-o-Alaikum!

I’m Laiqa Shahid of grade VIII and today I’m going to speak on a topic

“Hijab is a Crown of Every Woman”.

In today’s society, the media portrays Muslim women as oppressed and they are forced into praying five times a day, forced into arranged marriages at very young age and subsequently, wear the veil or the hijab as it is called which they’re also forced to do. They have no say, they don’t stand up for themselves and they’ve silent voices. WHAT PREPOSTEROUS INTRODUCTION!

OOHH… Wait, Did you forget about Hazrat Aisha(R.A), the youngest wife of Prophet Muhammad(P.B.U.H). The most famous woman in the history of Islam. She used to veil herself carefully, but she possessed immense knowledge. Her spirit of inquiry did great service to Islam. And a businesswoman Hazrat Khadija (R.A). The first and beloved wife of Prophet Muhammad(P.B.U.H). A successful merchant, she also used to observe pardha ‘what about her then..??’ The lady who went with the group of women in the Battlefield of Badr, Hazrat Fatimah(R.A)-the daughter of Prophet(P.B.U.H). Okay, just discard the past and view the present.

In modern times, Amal Kassir a Syrian-American speaker and an international poet, she also observes Hijab and she stood up to speak among thousands of people at the stage of TEDx. So is she also OPPRESSED?!

Who gave the media the authority over Islam? Do they have any license? Are they Muslims? No, not at all! All women who do hijab is the practice of their religion. It’s not hurting anybody, it’s not harming anybody but yet ignorance labels them as outcasts. If you know how hard it is to be different in today’s world. IT IS INCREDIBLY DIFFERENT! Do you know how hard it is to be a White Rose in a bouquet of Red Roses.

You know what is said about the lady who is not on social media for 24/7 is oppressed and anyone who lives the life of solitude. SO HOLD IT! Hijabi women are not caged they’re not repressed and they’re not silent, wearing hijab gives them a voice it gives them identity and it makes them stand out.

I have a message to all my sisters out there, your beauty is truly enhanced with humanity in your eyes and the hijab that had adorned our Mothers of the Faithful ever so elegant. The hijab that lights up your face, it is the Crown which makes you a Queen and loved by Allah(S.W.T).

Remember, hijab doesn’t make you backward, in fact, it gives you the power to walk with respect, with dignity, confidence and guess what? We’re gaining Allah’s ‘Raza’ at the same time.
