To meet the inevitable needs of the time, Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi established a qualitative practical education system with a comprehensive layout to promote modern education according to the requirements of Islamic code of conduct (shari’ah) which could serve as modern education system consisting of Islamic values and achievement of path towards a meaningful way of life. The primary aim of this institution (Hira Foundation School) is to mentor students in such a way that they can live a meaningful life and meet the global challenges with their maximum capacity by acquiring modern education in various disciplines under the light of the Quran and Sunnah. In this way, they can play a productive role in every walk of life and with their focused striving not only overcome the challenges of time but also succeed here and in the hereafter.

From the very inception of Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi, the founder Mufti-e-Azam Pakistan Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Shafi (RA) had the following vision:

“To facilitate students to become well educated, successful and practicing Muslims for the pleasure of Almighty Allah.”

Hira Foundation School is a division of renowned Jamia Darul Uloom, Karachi. It is an excellent frontline shariah compliant Cambridge school system which offers education from preschool till O & A Levels. The foremost aim is to provide opportunities to students to acquire modern quality education along with the Islamic one within Darul Uloom.

Retd. Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani

Supervision of HFS

Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani was born in 1943 in Deoband, India. He is the son of the late Maulana Mufti Muhammad Shafi, the former Grand Mufti of Pakistan. He obtained his Takhassus degree (an advanced degree equivalent to Ph.D.) in Islamic education from Darul Uloom Karachi, the largest and most renowned Islamic educational institution in Pakistan. He also attained a Master’s degree in Arabic literature from Punjab University and a Law degree (LLB) from Karachi University.

He is regarded as an expert in the fields of Hadith (sacred traditions of the Holy Prophet, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him), Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), Economics, and Tasawwuf (Islamic spirituality). He has been teaching these and other branches of Islamic education since 1959. He served as Judge of the Shariat Appellate Bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan from 1982 to May 2002. He is also a permanent member of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, an organ of OIC based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He has served as the Vice Chairman of the Academy for nine years.

He is also the Vice President of Darul Uloom Karachi.

Dr. Muhammad Imran Ashraf Usmani

Director of HFS

Dr. Muhammad Imran Usmani, son of Justice (Retd) Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani, holds an LLB, M. Phil, and Ph. D. in Islamic Finance and graduated as a scholar with specialization (Takhassus) in Islamic Fiqh and Fatwa from Jamia Darul-Uloom, Karachi.

Dr. Usmani is the Director of Hira Foundation School (a project of Jamia Darul Uloom, Karachi) with a vision to provide high quality education to its students with its unique blend of modern academics and Islamic teachings.

Presently, he is also the Shariah Advisor and Group Head of Product Development Shariah Compliance (PDSC) at Meezan Bank and is in charge of the R&D and Product Development of Islamic banking products, Training, Advisory, and Audit & Compliance for the relevant domains.

He has been serving as a teacher lecturer of important subjects of Shariah (Fiqh & Hadith in Mutawassitah to Aalimiyyah levels) since 1990 in Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi and is the member of the administration board of Jamia Darul-Uloom, Karachi. He is a visiting faculty member at Karachi University and IBA. He has also been leading Friday khutba and prayer at Jamia Mosque for twenty years.

Mufti Muhammad Najeeb Khan

Advisor of HFS

Mufti Najeeb has a distinguished career in teaching Islamic Law/Fatwa, Islamic Jurisprudence and Sharia Standards. He is currently teaching at Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi and is also the Advisor of Hira Foundation School, Karachi. He is a visiting Faculty Member of Sheikh Zaid Institute, Karachi University, PAF KIET University, LUMS Lahore and other institutions. He has played a role in the preparation of Pakistan’s Halal Standards.

Mufti Najeeb has been a Member of Pakistan Quality & Standards Control Authority (PSQCA) Technical Committee on Development of Halal Food Standards; Member of Committee on International OIC Halal Standards; Member for numerous Committees of State Bank of Pakistan on Islamic Finance & Banking, Sharia Advisor to leading Banks, and also a Sharia Consultant to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP). Mufti Najeeb Khan is a reputed expert in the field of Islamic Finance and holds a degree of specialization (Takhassus) from Jamia Darul Uloom, Karachi.
