You Have To Take The Stairs
By: Saira Javed – Grade IX
Humans beings are all runners in the race of success. Each wants to surpass the other to reach the finish line first. What most forget in their rush is that there are no shortcuts to success. The route is harsh, testing and ends up crushing most people. Who then lasts till the end? It is usually those who work hard, overcome the hindrances with determination and are optimistic about their destinations.
The first and foremost trait of a hard worker is persistence. Success demands constant unwavering struggle. The sure way to reach success is step by step, fighting off and dealing with all the obstacles confronted along the way. These stumbling blocks are natural teachers and guides that toughen and prepare for the unexpected complications we encounter in progress to success.
As the saying goes,
“Every rise is destined to fall but let’s see it this way , every fall is destined to rise.”
Vincent van Gogh, the legendary painter sold only one painting in his life, and that also to a friend for a very small amount of money. While Vincent van Gogh was never a success during his life, he continued with his painting, sometimes starving to complete his over 800 known works. Today, these are auctioned for hundreds of millions.
There is no denying the fact that hard work is the surest way to success. All successful people are definitely hard workers, however the question to ponder over is that are all hard working people successful? No, this is where two other critical factors come in consistency and optimism.
The road to success is really harsh. We get demotivated very soon, what if the next day brings us a blessing in disguise . As it is said,
‘Opportunity knocks on the door but it does not break it down.’
Consistency is the spark that is needed to light up the fire of passion which is the fodder of success. Without consistency , it is difficult to muster the courage to take the next step, and hence, a more difficult one, so dear friends, when you are tired of climbing too many stairs do not sigh and declare,
‘I can’t do this, I am giving up.’
If you say so then mark my words you can never do it.
Secondly, be optimistic. Be sure that one day you will reach your destination and how much hard work that requires. Having negative thoughts will make you hesitate and think a thousand times even if you are doing the best thing in the world. Islam emphasizes to hope for the best from Allah SWT.
Be ready to conquer the mountain’s peak by bravely fighting off all the avalanches because that is the real challenge!
