Objectives:
To make the students able to:
* make and decorate cards
* learn new vocabulary words: Hajj, Ka’bah, Eid
* recognize the talbiyyah
* learn the takbeer of Eid
How did the activity go?
Teachers had cut the card sheets of different colors to the size of a card and folded it in the center. Glue and print out of sheep were provided to the students.
What did the students do?
Students pasted the printed sheep on the given cards. They made their cards beautiful by coloring and covered the sheep’s body with glue and cotton. They also wrote a loving note and wishes inside the card for their parents.
What did the students learn?
Teachers told the students that Eid al-Adha, also known as the Greater Eid or the Festival of Sacrifice, is an important Muslim festival. It commemorates Hazrat Ibrahim’s obedience to Allah SWT’s command to sacrifice his son Hazrat Ismael (A.S). However, just at the stroke of the act he was ultimately replaced by a sheep. Hence, Muslims all over the world đ celebrate this festival by sacrificing goats, sheep, cows and camels as was done by Prophet Ibrahim (A.S).
